New Poem Alert!!!!!

current music: i am currently listening to the album Reise, Reise by Rammstein.

i don't know if this would be considered exciting but i finished a new poem at around 1 AM Eastern Time today.

this poem is titled *gasp* (just an FYI - titled poems are rare for me, if i hadn't mentioned that already.) the title of this poem is called Rapscallion, which, if you don't know what that word means, it means rascal or someone who is a rouge or who is mischievous.

also in the poem i mention the Green Fairy. and for those of you who don't know what the Green Fairy is, it's Absinthe. and if you don't know what absinthe is, look it up on Wikipedia. i also have a line at the end that says "like his voice in my head" i am not referring to god. if you know me well you might be able to figure out who i'm referring to.

anyway, i hope you enjoy it. comments are greatly appreciated.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rapscallion
little brats of green that are your eyes
behind blood shot panes
hiding your face
behind a mask of a Green Fairy stupor
to which you show a soul
i never thought the gods would let me see.
your little angel mask -
bury myself in awe of your nerve grating look,
that one that knows me better,
who knows my soul on a look,
of frozen memories
dormant fragments of
millions of imaginations
broken like twigs and scattered -
different things
same day.
when you're my everything and nothing
everything advances
slowly like a viewmaster
fixed forever on repeat
like his voice in my head
that voice so deep it strikes bone
and leaves you staring
until i can say i love you
go to bed.

the pleasures of a day off

good afternoon ya'll. at 1:08 pm EST i am enjoying a wonderful day of not having class because it's Verteran's Day. thank you to all of our soldiers past present and future for protecting our country. while i give a silent round of applause to all the verterans i am still in awe and happiness of Barack Obama becoming the 44th President of the US. i am so happy for this country right now. i really think as Americans we can do a lot right now to turn things around and make things better. i really don't know how to describe it and showing off how inarticulate i can be for a 20-something, but i do know change has finally arrived. thank the gods.

so i sit here writing all of this, listening to the Twilight Soundtrack for what seems like the 50 bajillionth time since Saturday. i also listened to Dave Gahan's solo album Hourglass like 3 times saturday night. i have become a HUGE fan of Depeche Mode, thanks to my best friend Rastko. and Rammstein....also thanks to Rastko. and Rammstein is working on their 6th album as of this week which i'm so stoked and excitied about!! when i went CD shopping i picked up thier DVD Lichtspielhaus, which is quite amazing. i need to finish wathing it though

there are so many things i need to be doing, other than writing this. i think i may brave the cold, 44 degrees fahrenheit according to Yahoo! and go down to Burger King for lunch. then go into Starbucks next door and actually try coffee!!! i'm not really a coffee or tea person but there's a first time for everything. i saw something on their website about a peppermint mocha twist which sounds insanely good. there's a first time for everything, right?

as far as school goes, i need to start reading the stuff i have found on Hello Kitty - which is my topic for my paper for my Global Popular Culture class. we had to pick something that was transnational and Hello Kitty totally fits. i also have a geology test tomorrow at 10:30 in the morning, which at the moment i don't think i'm ready for but i typed out a stuudy guide like i did for our first test and i got a B on the first test so i don't think i should do that bad but i'm nervous.

but as of right now i need to STFU and go do something with my afternoon. i'll be posting another poem soon, i promise

The Inspiration for Till's Eyes

ok...so if any of you are wondering where i got the inspiration for the poem i posted on November 7, titled Till's Eyes, here you go. here's the Youtube video where i got my inspiration. this is Rammstein performing their song "Ohne Dich" ("Without You" in English) in France off the live DVD Volkerball. pay close attention at 3:21 into the video. that's the look i'm talking about.

Till's Eyes

this is the first titled poem of mine that you get to see. as a general rule and just the way i write, i don't title my poems unless i think the poems needs one.

there's a story behind the title of this poem. the title of this poem is Till's Eyes. i wrote this poem while i was watching Rammstein's live DVD Volkerball. there are snippits from other concerts but i wrote this off the main concert that was filmed in France. they were performing their song Ohne Dich and during the instrumental part of the song the lead singer, Till Lindemann had this look in his eye that just got to me and so i wrote this poem. i wrote this poem back in September.

hope you like it.

----------------------------------
something about that look in your eye
that caught mine
saw right through me
through every flaw
until i felt i'd caught on fire.
this isn't about love -
it's pain.
the feel i get
when you feel past the world that's fallen in on itself.

at 2 am
the most inconvenient time -
that middle of the ocean feeling
with a lighter and a match.
will you turn the world
into a star for me tonight?

plastered with a sense of nothingness
finish it off with a parting shot to fall on the floor with -
i'll wake you in the morning
i know you'll still be there
in a stripped blank mindset
fueled with something you can't harness.
you've shielded me in bubble wrap
so we're ready to go.

tell me -
where do you go when it's hard to hear
and your spidey sense is gone?

the first poem you get to see

the title of the first poem that i'm posting is called Look One. i wrote this poem September 20, 2008. i hope ya'll like it.

----------------------------------------------------------

you looked at me
with those Elizabeth Bennet eyes
and i couldn't turn awaybecause they burn.
the power of suggestion by a look -
what else could go wrong today?
in agony without that sound in my ear
and i'm dying
without those gentle words to soothe.

unfortunate is it not?
how i'm here
you're there
and when everything falls to pieces
time stands still
dust settles into living statues
and i still won't forget how you made me cry
tripping over words
to get you to say you hate me.

never knew me
how i've faded with every distant memory
that you're chocking on
in hopes of forgetting
hoping you'll be the typical country song

a six pack of long necks
your guitar and a dog.

introuctions

i honestly don't know how many people will read this blog or if they will even care to continue reading it once i start posting some of my poems. but i thought that i should introduce myself and give blogger a try and see how things go.

for starters, my name is dee. i am 21 years old and a junior in college. i am majoring in popular culture and minoring in women's studies. and yes i can say that i am a feminist. i am an only child, a falling away catholic and a democrat (Viva Obama!!!). i have been a type one diabetic since 1/1/2002. so what...that'll be *does quick math* 7 years this January.

some of my favorite things include vampires, reading, writing poems, sleeping, hanging out with my friends, shopping and wasting vast amounts of time on facebook.

i created this blog to post poems and musings and to just be honest about things that are going on. i may be extremely bitchy one post and quite calm the next like nothing ever happend. my poetry style is stream of consciousness and usually starts with a line that pops into my head or a look on someones face. all i hope is that you like what i have to offer.
